Dreaming on a Star – Meet the Maker

1. Why is your business called Dreaming on a Star?

I don’t really live in the real world at all! I’ve always been a day-dreamer. But I also like to take action and I believe everyone should pursue their dreams.

2. What inspired your business?

I’ve always had a love of stationery and beautiful design. As a child (and adult!) I get very excited about beautiful patterns and illustrations. It’s a real privilege to make people smile with your work.

3. What was your first ever sale?

It was a tote bag with one of my patterns printed on it. I started off in textiles but I’ve gotten more into the paper side of design.

4. What has been your biggest business milestone to date?

My designs were featured on the Print & Pattern blog, the no. 1 blog for surface pattern design. It is a rite of passage for many pattern designers & illustrators. Also getting my designs printed on tangible objects is always a thrill for me. And I also have been working on my new webshop for the last few months and it’s finally finished! http://shop.dreamingonastar.com/

5. What does SPM mean to you?

Strandhill People’s Market was the first market I did, way back in the summer of 2014! It provided a brilliant showcase for me and my work. My confidence in my work grew tremendously with each passing week. I also made some lovely, supportive friends at the market and got to meet my customers face-to-face. I would say SPM was a real game-changer for me and my business.
